  • David Price

Hello everyone! I'm David and I'm the Manager at Game Theory. I began playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1980 when my older brother got the Basic D&D box set for his birthday, much to our mother's chagrin. I have played AD&D ever since, mostly as a dungeonmaster, as well as playing a host of other (mostly classic) RPGs, such as Gamma World, MERP (Middle Earth Roleplaying), Call of Cthulhu, Elric!, Pendragon, and the original Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. In addition, I dabbled in Warhammer 40K and Warhammer Fantasy, some board games (Talisman being a standout), and honed my skills as perfectly average figure painter.

I'm a Raleigh native and remember when Hungate's Hobby Shop and The Armory were the only local shops to carry any roleplaying games and accessories. I collect 1st edition Dungeons & Dragons books and modules, as well as several other games and enjoy researching the history of roleplaying games and the fantasy fiction genre. I have a lifelong interest in fantasy and science fiction literature; favorite authors include the usual suspects of Tolkien, Stephen Donaldson, Frank Herbert, as well as the pulp writers H.P. Lovecraft, Robert Howard, Michael Moorcock, Fritz Leiber, and many more.

As manager at Game Theory, I am so fortunate to have such an amazing group of customers and employees to work with every day. Coming to work is a joy for me and I am constantly striving to improve everything we do at Game Theory to make sure that everyone has a great experience. Please talk to me if you ever have any concerns or praise or just want to chat! I have a degree in Classical Studies with a focus on Classical Archaeology and spent a year studying in England as well as a full excavation season in Crete, working as a trenchmaster at the Minoan site of Mochlos. And, in addition to my work at the store, I am the lead vocalist in a local metal band, called Eldritch Horror.

  • Yvo
Kamusta po! My name's Yvonne, northerner, adopted mother of Sarah, deadpan snarker.  I have every major console since 1983, and get my kicks from explosions. I'm highly addicted to anime, kpop, and Mongolian folk metal. I love Magic: The Gathering, and making chaotic decks that don't really do anything but rustle jimmies.  I like board games that are more PVP oriented, bonus if they are in space. I really enjoy working at Game Theory, learning new games, and meeting everyone :)

  • Marshall
My name is Marshall, and I started playing Magic in the Scars of Mirrodin block with my friends in College back in 2011. I quickly took to competitive Magic and found a home in Modern and Legacy, but enjoy all of magic's formats. Magic is mainly what brought me to Game Theory in 2013 after graduating from UNC-Charlotte and moving back to Raleigh where I grew up. I was hired as the Magic Singles expert in August 2015, and my primary duties are making sure customers are satisfied with purchasing individual Magic cards from our store. As a certified Magic Judge, I am also responsible for judging Magic events for the store as well as running the front end when needed. While my focus is Magic, I also enjoy several other games we do in the store such as Dungeons and Dragons, Splendor, Evolution, Yu-Gi-Oh, as well as several other board games we carry. I am also a big proponent of Super Smash Bros Melee and oftentimes play Melee at the store with other Melee enthusiasts. Outside of games, I teach music in Wake County and am an active performing musician in the area.

  • Jason
I've been a gamer most of my life, originally starting in video games in Magic. Over the years, I've spread my gaming wings mostly into board and card games. I enjoy tons of different games, but Sentinels of the Multiverse, Ascension, and Betrayal at House on the Hill are probably my favorite board games. I started coming to Game Theory shortly after it opened, loved the atmosphere and community. I've been working here for more than four years, and have enjoyed sharing my interest in gaming with thousands of people over that time. You can find me running the show on weeknights, and especially at any of our Magic special events.
